The trial against Daniel Alves, accused of rape at the Sutton nightclub in late 2022, will begin in just one month. From February 5 until the 7th of the same month, the ex-footballer will face a possible sentence of between eight and 10 years in prison.
However, a few weeks before the litigation begins, his mother, Lucia, has shared a controversial video of a lawyer, Graciele Queiroz, on social media in which the identity of the victim of the alleged rape involving the Brazilian is disseminated.
The controversy exploded when the soccer player’s mother decided to go further and ‘accuse’ the young woman of seeking fame and money with her complaint.
Lucia didn’t hesitate to share a compilation of photos and videos, made by a Brazilian lawyer, of the victim and that, according to her, would prove her version and show that the woman’s accusations are false.
Alves’s mother breaks the anonymity of Alves’s alleged victim
In the documents shown by Alves’ mother and previously shared by lawyer Graciele Queiroz, not only do the young woman’s day-to-day activities appear, but she also reveals her name and surname.
It could lead to criminal consequences for Lucia and the aforementioned lawyer, according to some experts, because it means ending the right to anonymity of a victim of a sex crime.
As echoed by several media outlets, Lucia’s post has been denounced on social networks by several users, who have not hesitated to hit out at Alves’ mother and the lawyer for committing such an act when there are only a few weeks left before the Brazilian faces a sentence that would keep him in jail for several years.
Curiously, anonymity was what the young woman was seeking, as she will testify at the trial with a screen to avoid eye contact with Alves and, in addition, will be assisted by the Office of Victim Assistance. Now, the young woman’s lawyer, Ester Garca, is finalizing a complaint against the people who published the videos.
