U.S. strikes Yemen again as campaign to thwart Houthis intensifies

U.S. forces launched a new round of strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on Tuesday, U.S. officials said, striking four missiles as the militants were preparing what appeared to be a new round of attacks on commercial shipping.

The strikes mark at least the third time in the last week that the U.S. military has targeted the Iran-backed militants, signaling what could be an enduring campaign. The militants have launched nearly 30 attacks on merchant ships in the region since November, linking their actions to the war in Gaza and Western support for Israel.
