The Biden administration announced Friday that it has accepted the Israeli government’s assurances that it is not violating U.S. or international law in its prosecution of the war in Gaza, a conclusion at odds with assessments made by the United Nations and major international aid groups.
That conclusion, in a six-page summary of a report President Biden ordered early this year for all recipients of U.S. military weapons, was reached despite questions it raised about whether Israel had in fact violated humanitarian standards.
