Erling Haaland breaks the single-season Premier League goalscoring record
Erling Haaland set a new Premier League single-season scoring record by netting his 35th goal in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over West Ham, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals held by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer. Haaland achieved this feat in just 31 league appearances, breaking the record for a 38-game Premier League season previously set by Mohamed Salah in 2017-18. Cole and Shearer’s records were set in 42-game seasons, with Cole achieving it with Newcastle United in 1993-94 and Shearer the following season with Blackburn Rovers. Haaland‘s landmark goal came with five games still remaining in the season.
