Ryan Reynolds didn’t disappoint with his Emmy’s acceptance speech. The Hollywood actor’s series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, which tells the story about his and Rob Mcelhenney’s purchase of Welsh football club Wrexham, swept the floor, winning five awards on the night.
And Reynolds decided to accept the prestigious prizes dressed in this famous Deadpool suit. Via a video shared to his almost 22 million followers on X, the actor paid a hilarious tribute to the team he now owns together with fellow actor McElhenny.
“Whoo! Wow, umm… Mr Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me on his behalf,” began Reynolds after hilariously interrupting Mcelhenney as he began to thank people. “First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you. Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story. Cymru am byth, b****es.”
Reynolds didn’t stop there. “I’d also like to thank The Academy for this honor and for not asking us to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities.”
“I’d also like to thank FX and Disney for their support and in exchange Mr Lively promises to not f**k up my next movie. Lastly, The Oscars, you’re on notice motherf***ers.”
Wrexham on fire
It’s not just the documentary that is picking up all the awards. The team itself is also doing a fine job. After being promoted to the Football League last season, the Welsh team are currently sitting third in League 2 (the fourth tier of English football) and are just two points off the top.
