No Ancelotti, and now, no Diniz: Brazil dismiss coach after poor run

The chaos continues at the Brazilian Football Federation. As reported by ‘Globo’, Fernando Diniz was dismissed from his position of coach of the Brazilian national team on Friday.

The decision was made by the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, one day after being reinstated in the position by a request of the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

Diniz, who combined his work at the Brazilian national team with his job at Fluminense (with whom he won the Libertadores against Boca Juniors), barely lasted six games at the helm of Brazil.

Wictories over Bolivia and Peru, draw with Venezuela and defeats against Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina. The last one at the Maracana, against the Albiceleste, proved to be the nail in the coffin.

Brazil were hoping to land Carlo Ancelotti

Ednaldo Rodrigues’ plan was clear: Diniz would stay until the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, in June 2024. But the Italian, as officially announced, ended up renewing his contract with Real Madrid.

Now, of course, Brazil must find a new coach: the favorite is the current coach of Sao Paulo, Dorival Jnior, according to ‘Globo’.
