Lionel Messi is not only focused on what he can offer on the field of play, whatever shirt he is wearing at that particular moment, but he is also aware of what is happening on the social level for people who aren’t as fortunate as him.
That is the reason why the prestigious auction house Sotheby’s will offer its clients six shirts donated by the Argentinean star between November 30 and December 14.
The reason why these shirts are so special is that the six donated were used by Messi in the recent Qatar 2022 World Cup that ended with Argentina winning the World Cup.
“Six World Cup shirts. One auction. Today, my friends at @acmomento are announcing an auction at @sothebys for six shirts I wore during the World Cup in Qatar, including my shirt from the Final,” was part of the post made by the Rosario-born player on his official Instagram account, where he has almost 500 million followers.
Auction will help a hospital in Barcelona
In the same post, the footballer expanded on the auction. “You can bid on the Sotheby’s website from November 30 to December 14. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the UNICAS Project, led by the Sant Joan de Du Children’s Hospital (SJD) in Barcelona to meet the needs of children suffering from rare diseases”.
The shirts are valued at around $10 million and were worn against Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Australia, the Netherlands, Croatia and France.
