Messi and Inter Miami's poor run of form continues with defeat to Al-Hilal

An 88th-minute goal from former Barcelona striker Malcom ultimately condemned Luis Suarez and Leo Messi’s Inter Miami to defeat in their first friendly together on their tour of Saudi Arabia.

Suarez, with an empty net, and Messi, with a penalty, were initially able to engineer Inter’s comeback from 3-1 down at half-time.

The Uruguayan and the Argentine scored in the 34th and 54th minutes respectively, but it was David Ruiz who made it 3-3 on a counter-attack well assisted by Messi.

The match had continuous transitions, with plenty of chances, and some controversy, such as a goal disallowed for offside by Surez to Messi himself in the first half.

The friendly, which precedes Thursday’s game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, also featured Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Inter’s former Barcelona duo.

For Al Hilal, the Saudi league leaders, even without Neymar, Serbian Mitrovic scored yet another goal. In the end, Malcom’s goal, with Messi and Surez already on the bench, defined a very entertaining match.
