De Gea rejects Al Nassr's mega offer: Does he want to join Messi's Inter Miami?

The ‘soap opera’ of David De Gea’s future continues to be talked about in the English media with the former Manchester United goalkeeper being linked with a move to partner up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper and last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner is still without a club since leaving England this summer, however, he has not been short of offers. Teams from all corners of world soccer have been interested in the Spaniard.

The last big offer came from Saudi Arabia via Al Nassr, where former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo plays, who put forth a significant sum of money to bring the goalkeeper to the Middle East. However, according to information from The Sun, the Spanish goalkeeper would have rejected the offer of 500,000 a week from the Arab club.

Both he and his wife, Edurne, are not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia and consider that money is not the main thing right now in their assessment when it comes to choosing a new club. Also according to the English press, David Beckham’s Inter Miami would be interested in acquiring the Spanish goalkeeper.

Should De Gea agree to a move to the United States, he would join a group of old Spanish-speaking players that includes Messi and former international teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Future options could also include a move closer to home, with the 33-year-old linked with a surprise return to Atletico Madrid 12 years on from leaving the club in 2011. Other sides such as Valencia and Real Betis have also been sounded out by Liga EA Sport, although their wage offers lessen the likelihood of him ending up at either of those two clubs.

Andre Onana injured

David De Gea’s replacement at the Old Trafford-based club, Andre Onana, has caught a similar amount of criticism due to a similar amount of unforced or soft errors giving away cheap goals to their rivals.

Now Onana possibly gets a moment out of the spotlight, not due to anything positive but because he has injured his pubis, a pelvic bone, on international duty with Cameroon in FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He will miss their next game against Libya and is now a doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Goodison Park as they face Everton on Sunday, November 26. If he isn’t fit to play for Erik Ten Hag’s side, then Altay Bayindir could be set for his debut at the club after joining in August 2023.
