BUENOS AIRES — Argentina’s next president will be Javier Milei, a libertarian economist who embraces comparisons to former U.S. president Donald Trump and promises to take down the establishment.
Milei, a 53-year-old former television pundit, won Argentina’s presidential election Sunday with nearly 56 percent of the vote, a resounding victory over the country’s economy minister, Sergio Massa. Milei, who until recently was seen as an outsider with radical, fringe ideas, is expected to bring a shock to the economic and political system in Argentina.
