More than 2,000 buried by Papua New Guinea landslide, government estimates


More than 2,000 people are estimated to have been buried alive in the landslide that swept a remote village in northern Papua New Guinea on Friday, the Associated Press reported Monday, citing an official from country’s national disaster center. The figure is a devastating spike to the South Pacific island nation’s presumed death toll, previously believed to be about 700.
