Michael Jordan and his success with Italians, especially with AC Milan fans

Michael Jordan is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, names in NBA history. The former Chicago Bulls star was a force to be reckoned with during the 80s and 90s, dominating the league and cementing his legacy.

At the height of his popularity, there were rumors that Jordan had some interest in European football, or more specifically, Serie A.

It stemmed from a picture of Jordan wearing an AC Milan jersey from the 1990/91 season. Now, it appears as though that fandom has translated into a business partnership between the two.

Milan and Jordan working together

Via an official website on their website, Milan announced a partnership with Jordan’s co-owned Cincoro Tequila.

“An award-winning portfolio of luxury tequilas, now joining the Club’s family of partners as the Official Tequila of the Rossoneri,” read the statement.

The announcement comes as Cincoro begins its expansion into Italy.

“This extraordinary partnership allows us to introduce Cincoro’s rich and delicious taste to discerning Italian consumers and international travelers alike,” Cincoro co-owner Emilia Fazzalari stated at the launch of the drink in Italy.

As for Milan, chief commercial officer Maikel Oettle underlined that the the partnership will help with “creating unforgettable moments for fans and stakeholders alike.”

This will no doubt be aided by the fact that, according to Essence, the tequila industry has been outperforming other alcohol sales.

Cincoro started during a casual meeting between NBA owners, including former Hornets owner MJ, Lakers’ Jeanie Buss, Bucks’ Wes Edens, and Celtics’ Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck.

“One night, five NBA owners… met for dinner. That evening they bonded over their shared love for tequila. From there Cincoro was born,” reds the brand’s official website.
