Israeli national team bus is caught in the middle of an artillery attack

The conflict between Israel, Palestine and Hamas continues to escalate. As the attacks continue, civilians continue to bear the brunt in the most devastating of ways.

This time it was the turn of the Israeli national team, who were being transported by bus before a match against Kosovo in preparation for their Euro 2024 qualifier when they were caught in the crossfire of a shelling attack.

Among the players on board the bus was Shon Weissman, the Granada player who was given permission by the Spanish club on Thursday to join the national team’s training camp.

There have been no indications that the horror in the Middle East is close to reaching a conclusion, with neither side anticipating a ceasefire in the immediate future.

Contention remains over Hamas continuing to hold Israeli hostages from their October 7 attack in recognized Israeli territory, whilst Israel’s heavy bombing of the Gaza Strip and the resultant civilian casualties have seen global sympathy for their endeavor wane slightly.

Did Israel’s national team suffer any injuries as part of the attack?

As the impact of the shells were felt, the players and the rest of the team’s coaching staff were forced to flee the bus and run for safety.

The video of the escape was published by the Israeli national team’s own account, which made clear that they wouldn’t let the incident distract them from their on-pitch focus.

“Nothing will stop us on the road to Euro 2024!” the Israeli team’s account posted.

The match against Kosovo had already been postponed during the last international break as a result of the ongoing war in the Middle East, with the new date being November 12.
