“He proposed to me after ten years together,” Nara said. “We haven’t defined anything yet, but it was beautiful to receive his proposal.

“I take it for granted that it will be in Argentina. The only thing defined for the moment is that we will spend Christmas in Europe. Something I have learned in this last time is to enjoy the present a lot and project less.

“It is true that you check how real that commitment you make is when you get married and accompany each other in health as well as in sickness.”

Nara appreciates Icardi’s devotion

Leukaemia is a form of cancer that affects bone marrow in the blood. It kills an estimated 309,000 people around the globe per year, so it’s a scary thing but Nara appreciates the devotion of her husband and long-time soul mate.

“The nicest thing I have seen from Mauro in these ten years together was when I was diagnosed with my illness,” Nara said. “I remember one night I was sleeping and I woke up, around four in the morning, and I saw Mauro with the phone looking for where to cure me all over the world, where to take care of me.

“When one gets married, one says it in good, in bad and in health. You say it because you take it for granted, but it’s not so taken for granted. Life takes you to situations where you see true love in those complicated situations.”
