HOUSTON – Neither the Houston Cougars nor Rice Owls basketball found victory at Toyota Center on Saturday.
The two teams were part of a doubleheader in the Downtown Houston arena, titled the Mattress Firm Battleground 2k24.
The No. 4 Houston Cougars fell 74-69 to the No. 11 Auburn Tigers as part of the main event. Graduate guard L.J. Cryer and junior guard Emanuel Sharp each had 13 points for Houston.
The Rice Owls lost 73-65 to the Florida State Seminoles in the opening contest. Alem Huseinovic led Rice with 14 points and four three-pointers.
